3d graphics for the world wide web: THE BASICS

We've come a long way, baby! The Red Baron is now hopelessly outclassed by technology...at least until he upgrades and puts his considerable dogfighting talents to work in a modern F-117A Stealth Fighter. Likewise, web graphics are getting hotter and hotter every day...and 3D is the way to go! By Charlie Morey
CYBERPRESS PUBLISHING COMPANY

Just a few short years ago, the work I'm doing today could only have been accomplished by a computer programmer. And his equipment would have been exotic, state-of-the-art machinery that only a large corporation, a research organization or a well-funded college could afford.

Yet, these pages were built by a creative guy of average talent and lots of inspiration (life...reality...virtual reality...it all runs together after a while). Everything you'll see here was done with my trusty old hot rod 486-33, which actually started life a few years back as a 386. I've added memory and upgraded the hard drive(s) to house all those graphics bits--which, as near as I can tell, take up about 100 times more space than text bits! (It could just be my imagination...) But essentially, it's just a PC, probably not as capable as the one you're using to view this madness.

I think that's wonderful! Why should the old men with corporate budgets and the lucky college kids have all the fun? If you're interested in creating 3D graphics, and if you already have a competent computer, you can get started for only about $50. How?
