Conference organizers GCA have formed a new organization called
IDEAlliance,
which stands for International Digital Enterprise Alliance,
a non-profit group interested in promoting user driven interoperability
standards development. Paul Conn described several efforts:
ICE (Information and Content Exchange)
- controlled exchange of e-assets between networked partner.
Sun, Adobe, Microsoft, CNET, Vignette, and others are key players.
ICE 1.1 was just released with a beta implementation expected 1Q2000.
CPEX (Customer Profile Exchange) network
- privacy enabled (customer specifies degree of privacy). Version 1.0 is expected mid 2000.
ICC - (Independent Consultants Cooperative)
- "an organization of independent XML/SGML consultants who work with the
IDEAlliance to provide services for members and to support user-driven
standards activities".
