In an URLier WDVL article
(Step Right Up! ), I
explained how to do basic promotion for a Web site, including
search engine and directory submissions, and how to avoid
time-and money-wasting pitfalls. Search engine submissions
are an ongoing task, but if you really want to build traffic,
you need to do much more.
Exchanging links and content with
related sites, participating in mailing lists (or even
starting some of your own), obtaining press coverage, and of
course advertising both on- and offline, are only a few
of the many things you can do to build awareness of your site.
The only limits are your imagination and your time.
