Search engines have rapidly become very important tools for users of
the web. There are now so many of them that users are asking, which is
the best? Can I use several at once to compare the results?
This page lists the "meta" search services and other collections of
search engines.

The following 'metasearchers' submit queries to several search engines
in parallel:
- MetaCrawler
The MetaCrawler sends your queries to different services:
Lycos,
WebCrawler,
InfoSeek,
Excite,
Alta Vista, and
Yahoo.
The MetaCrawler works by querying a number of existing,
free search engines, organizes the results into a uniform format, and
displays them. With the MetaCrawler, you also have the option of
scoring the hits, so that the sorted list that is displayed
can be sorted by a number of different ways, such as locality, region,
and organization.
