What Do the Tesla Coils Do?

One other thing:
<script LANGUAGE="VBScript">
<!--
Sub flashfile_FSCommand(ByVal command, ByVal args)
call flashfile_DoFSCommand(command, args)
end sub
//show-->
</script>
I can't tell you much about VBScript, but what I know about this
snippet lets you work with the JavaScript you know and call the
document.flashfile object without worrying about using different
object paths for IE and NN.
That should be a sufficient electric jolt to get you started with your
own JavaScript/Flash creations. Remember to use a non-criminal brain.
Looking at our creation from the perspective of finished, it really isn't
so bad. Some ideas on how you could gussy it up to use in the real
world:
- Change the interface to select newsfeeds to drag-and-drop thumbnails,
(you could store the x and y coordinates in the cookie).
- Use an attractive layout and font
- Store the user's preferences in a DB and use the cookie just to
store the user's password.
- Use a cookie to remember which part of your (hard to bookmark)
all-Flash site the user likes to go to first.
- New-world hucksterism like 'print "Hello $userID. So nice to
see you\n";'
and "targeted marketing"...
I recommend building a template (in
1st Page 2000) for your Flashenstein
creations, including your OBJECT/EMBED tags, a skeleton of the document,
and the VBScript snippet. Check out this links page to get into it in
greater depth:
Bitchen' page of links to documentation on scripting for Flash.
Origin of VBScript snippet. Further illumination on the subject.
- document.flashfile frame number = Flash frame
number - 1; or Flash Player object indexes from 0 and Flash authoring
environment indexes from 1. Pretty slick, huh?
- In hindsight, I should have used this method: TGotoLabel(target,
label). It is always less of a pain to change Flash movies that use all
label references instead of specific frames. Oh, well - you get what
you pay for.
- Thanks again to the Flash authoring environment -
