These posters were commissioned by Impact
FCA, an advertising agency in London. They were done for CIC Video, the
UK arm of Paramount , to be offered to buyers of the
videos.
They were modelled and rendered on a
Macintosh 8100 using Form.z RenderZone (Autodessys). The reference for
the models came from various Star Trek books, primarily 'The making of
Deep Space Nine' by Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens. The Enterprise
was built from Sternbach & Okudas excellent 'Star Trek TNG Technical
Manual'. All texture maps etc were created in Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop
as was the final compositing of the images. The final rendering was done
at 4100x2923 for printing at A3.
There is a walkthrough showing the steps in the
construction
of the Enterprise here.
