From her vast experience of pain, love and joy
Judy Racz
paints imagines conjured by music, religious experiences and love of
the Bible, cosmology, astronomy, particle physics and all things
beautiful.
Judy's style varies and continues to change,
she relishes this as a feature of her work,
she is not tied down to any particular style.

Roger Harris: Deep Space 9
|
Roger is a talented Illustrator based in Kent in England.
He specialises in 3d modelling and animation and produces a variety
of jobs for things like: Magazine covers, Computer Game box art,
Posters, Point-of-sale and Television advertising.
He works on Macintosh and Alpha platforms and uses a wide range of
software.
These DS9 posters were commissioned by Impact FCA,
an advertising agency in London.
They were done for CIC Video, the UK arm of Paramount,
to be offered to buyers of the videos.
They were modelled and rendered on a Macintosh 8100 using Form.z
RenderZone (Autodessys).
The reference for the models came from various Star Trek books,
primarily
'The making of Deep Space Nine' by Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens.
The Enterprise was built from Sternbach & Okudas excellent
'Star Trek TNG Technical Manual'.
All texture maps etc were created in Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop as was
the final compositing of the images.
The final rendering was done at 4100x2923 for printing at A3.
There is a walkthrough showing the steps in the construction of the
Enterprise
here.

The CyberCosm
|
is derived from a couple of web sites I created while at NASA's
High Energy Astrophysics Science Archive Research Center.
When I left it seemed nobody would continue to maintain them and so
they let me take them with me.
StarChild was originally a demonstration
prototype I hacked up for a proposal to NASA, for a K-12 initiative.
The proposal, competing against several hundred others, failed; but
StarChild
somehow became known to the outside
world even though we made no attempts to publicise it.
The NASA copy won an Iway 500 award.
Suns'n'Roses: The Web of Time

Astronomy,
Cyberspace, and
Metaphysics.

"Our link to the solar system, the stars, and other galaxies comes
through the interface. All areas of the universe come into sharper
focus as the scientist zooms in on sources of astronomical data. ...
Through representations and simulations, we contact the world
we know and even the limits of what we know."
- Michael Heim, The Metaphysics of Virtual Reality, OUP, 1993.

Thanks to both for their fine work, and permission to use it!
