Java
Java is a simple, robust, object-oriented, platform-independent multi-threaded, dynamic general-purpose programming environment, created and developed by Sun Microsystems. It is as functional as C and as modular and object oriented as C++. Java is like a version of C++ where you can't hurt yourself. Whereas C++ will let you trash memory, Java is more watchful. It also takes care of "garbage collection." Java's foundation is the Virtual Machine. Instead of creating machine dependent code, the Java compiler creates an intermediate "byte code" format.
